Recovery at 6 weeks post Joint Replacement of Right First Carpometacarpal Joint of the Thumb for osteoarthritis.

Pre Op X ray showing Osteoarthritis at base of thumb
Post Op X ray shows joint replacement

She was given a steroid injection which gave her benefit for 6-8 weeks but since then the pain has come back and is constant.

She finds it difficult to grip and turn objects and is in constant pain. We did a first Carpometacarpal Joint replacement for her 6 weeks back for moderate to severe osteoarthritis and she is very happy with the outcome of the surgery. At 6 weeks she is pain free and has full range of movements, slowly building up to her full strength.
