Post Op X ray shows joint replacement

Susan is 53 years old, right hand dominant, legal secretary. She was having pain in her right thumb for a few years and was diagnosed with arthritis at the base of the thumb. She was given a steroid injection which gave her benefit for 6-8 weeks but since then the pain has come back and is constant.

She finds it difficult to grip and turn objects and is in constant pain. We did a first Carpometacarpal Joint replacement for her 6 weeks back for moderate to severe osteoarthritis and she is very happy with the outcome of the surgery. At 6 weeks she is pain free and has full range of movements, slowly building up to her full strength.
