Are you happy with the way your nose looks? Rhinoplasty, also known as nose reshaping, is a surgical procedure that refines the aesthetics and function of the nose. At OS Head and Neck, our experienced facial cosmetic surgeons create natural-looking results that complement your unique facial features. You are in safe hands.
Rhinoplasty, also known as a ‘nose job’, is a surgical treatment that changes the shape and size of your nose. It is often carried out for cosmetic reasons, with people opting to choose how their nose looks in relation to their face and overall appearance. In some cases, rhinoplasty is used to improve breathing and nasal function.
Rhinoplasty can also be used to:
Improve facial balance and proportion.
Enhance your self-confidence.
Refine tip size and shape.
Correct humps, bumps, or a wide bridge.
Narrow wide nostrils or straighten a crooked nose.
Rhinoplasty can be carried out using a variety of specialist techniques, depending on your individual case. At your initial consultation, we examine your nose, ask you about your ideal results, and let you know which techniques would be the most suitable for you. We make sure you know what to expect from the procedure, and give you the chance to ask any questions.
The rhinoplasty procedure is performed under general anaesthetic, so you won’t be awake during it. We make precise incisions to access the bone and cartilage in your nose, before reshaping them to achieve the desired outcome. We then close the incisions with medical stitches.
We give you detailed aftercare advice and instructions, and make sure you know what to expect as your recovery progresses. In most cases, rhinoplasty is a day case, so you won’t need to stay overnight and can recover at home.
A good candidate for rhinoplasty is in good overall health, has realistic expectations, and is a non-smoker. During your consultation, your surgeon will assess your suitability for the procedure.
There will be some swelling and bruising following surgery, which gradually subsides over the first two weeks. Most patients can return to work within a week, and strenuous activity should be avoided for around 6 weeks. Please ask us if you have any questions or concerns.
Rhinoplasty can actually improve breathing difficulties in some cases. This is discussed in detail during your consultation.
As with any surgery, rhinoplasty carries some risks, such as infection, bleeding, and difficulty breathing. Your surgeon will discuss these in detail during your consultation.
The results of rhinoplasty are typically long-lasting, with some subtle changes occurring over time due to the natural ageing process.
