Traditional dental implants have revolutionised how we replace missing teeth. However, for patients with severe jawbone atrophy (bone loss), these implants might not be suitable. AMSJI implants, or Additively Manufactured Subperiosteal Jaw Implants, can provide a promising alternative in such cases. At OS Head and Neck, we are proud to offer this new treatment in our specialist clinic.
If you’re missing a significant number of teeth and have undergone bone loss in your jaw, traditional implants may not provide enough support. This can mean the need for bone grafting procedures before implant placement, extending treatment time and complexity.
Eliminate the need for bone grafts
Custom-made to perfectly fit your jawbone
Can be completed in a faster time than traditional implants
Able to support a full set of fixed or removable dentures
Minimise discomfort and recovery times
What does AMSJI treatment involve?
During your initial consultation, we assess your jawbone health and suitability for AMSJI implants. We also take CT scans to create a 3D model of your jaw, enabling us to design your custom implant and plan your treatment.
Your bespoke AMSJI implant is placed just under the surface of your jawbone during a surgical appointment. We use local anaesthetic to ensure you remain comfortable throughout. Immediately after surgery, we fit a temporary tooth, allowing you to smile and eat comfortably while your implant heals and integrates with your jawbone.
When your implant has healed and fused successfully, we remove your temporary tooth and place your custom-made permanent restoration on top of your implant to reveal your new smile.
AMSJI implants are designed for long-term durability and With proper care they can last for many years. However, like natural teeth, they require good oral hygiene and regular dental check-ups.
The cost of AMSJI implants can vary depending on your individual circumstances. We discuss the cost with you during your consultation.
AMSJI implants are a relatively new technology and are not yet widely available. At OS Head & Neck, we specialise in advanced procedures and techniques and are pleased to offer this option to our patients. Please talk to us to find out more.
The AMSJI implant surgery is typically performed under local anaesthetic, minimising discomfort. You may experience some soreness after the procedure, which can be managed with pain medication as advised by your consultant.
