Recovery Post Dupuytren’s fasciectomy
Stephen, 58 years old is a scientist by profession and a professional guitar player. He is a keen golf player also.
Almost 2 years back, he started noticing his little finger was becoming bent.
On examination, he had a fixed flexion deformity with a palpable cord.
Mr Shahrier Sarker, Consultant Orthopaedic Hand & Wrist Surgeon, performed fasciectomy for Dupuytren’s contracture.
I would just like to thank you for the truly amazing results I have had with the surgical correction you made to fix the Dupuytren’s Contracture I had on my left small finger.

In Stephen’s own words: “I would just like to thank you for the truly amazing results I have had with the surgical correction you made to fix the Dupuytren’s Contracture I had on my left small finger. I was previously a professional guitarist and for the last two years, the worsening condition meant I simply could not play the guitar. Last time we spoke I explained that the brain was obviously confused over the fact I now had a working pinky. This confusion resulted in my inability to play even basic chords. However, a week later (7 weeks after surgery) my brain completed the rewiring and instantly I can now play the guitar as I used to. Unbelievable. Can’t thank you enough.” – Stephen
