Dr Christopher Barringer is a highly experienced consultant specialising in interventional pain medicine. He supports people living with long-term pain by offering advanced, targeted treatments designed for conditions that have not improved with standard approaches.
He is committed to helping patients reduce their pain and improve their quality of life.
Using precise ultrasound and X-ray (fluoroscopic) guidance, he delivers treatments safely and accurately. For persistent nerve pain, he offers advanced neuromodulation options such as spinal cord stimulation. For chronic low back pain related to muscle dysfunction, he provides restorative multifidus stimulation (ReActiv8), a therapy that retrains and strengthens the deep stabilising muscles of the spine.
Dr Barringer also performs a wide range of radiofrequency procedures – including standard, pulsed, and cooled radiofrequency. Cooled radiofrequency for shoulder and knee pain can offer significant relief and may help some patients avoid or delay joint replacement surgery.
He treats many types of pain, including back and neck pain, joint pain, nerve pain, and abdominal or pelvic pain. Patients value his thoughtful, compassionate approach and his ability to find answers where others may not.
Alongside his private practice, Dr Barringer is Lead Consultant for chronic pain medicine at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery, Queen Square, and serves as Faculty Tutor, mentoring future specialists.
