Introduction
Mr Khakha is a fellowship trained specialist trauma and orthopaedic knee surgeon. His surgical expertise revolves around all aspects of knee problems including trauma, sports injuries, arthritis and joint preservation surgery. His specialist interests include knee osteotomy surgery, cartilage preservation, arthroscopic ligament reconstructions and partial and total knee replacement surgery. Mr Khakha has set up The London Knee Osteotomy Centre and Children’s Knee Clinic.
About Mr Khakha
Mr Khakha’s NHS practice is based in central London teaching hospital Guy’s and St Thomas’. He has been in consultant practice since 2017 dealing with all elements of knee related injuries ranging from children’s knee injuries right the way through complex redo surgery for failed joint replacements. His philosophy is based on joint preservation surgery, where he routinely performs ligament repairs and reconstructions, meniscal repairs and osteotomy surgery. He regularly accepts referrals from other orthopaedic centres to manage complex primary and redo knee reconstructive surgery.
Following his successful completion of fellowship in the US at Massachusetts General Hospital in trauma surgery and knee fellowship at North Hampshire Hospitals, Mr Khakha embarked on his consultant career at Guy’s and St Thomas’. Prior to this, he trained on the prestigious South-East London Training Rotation, for which he is now the Deputy Training Programme Director. He is also Knee Lead Tutor for South London and KSS Trauma and Orthopaedic training programme and is Honorary clinical lecturer at Kings College London, where he is also Patron of the Orthopaedic Society. He has a passion for research as well as education and training, and regularly speaks at international and national meetings on modern minimally invasive knee surgical techniques. In April 2021 he was a course convenor on the London Osteotomy Virtual Masterclass attended by over 11,000 orthopaedic surgeon colleagues from across the world.
Mr Khakha completed his medical degree at St Georges University Hospital in 2006. He was awarded a BSc with honours at University College London in Orthopaedics and went to complete a Masters in the same field at the University of Brighton. He is an honorary senior lecturer at King’s College London and oversees surgical fellows looking to refine their skills in knee surgery.

Mr Khakha is a great surgeon and such a lovely man who pays great attention to detail and presents as a very pleasant and caring man. I am so grateful for his care when I had my second knee replacement in 2018. My previous experience of a knee replacement 10 years earlier was not a pleasant one and I was a bit anxious about having the second one operated on, but I worried needlessly! The whole process from initial consultation through to post-op check up was very well organised and my recovery under Mr. Khakha’s care was very speedy; I was able to dispense with my crutches very quickly and have been virtually pain-free ever since. If you need to have a knee procedure, do not delay, it will really be worth it!!

Mr Raghbir Khakha MBBS, MSc, FRCS (Tr & Orth) is a Consultant Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgeon with an exclusive interest in disorders of the knee. He has particular expertise in knee joint preservation surgery including cartilage repair, ligament reconstruction and osteotomy surgery. He has been fellowship trained in unicompartmental joint replacement, total knee replacement and revision of failed joint replacement surgery.
Mr Khakha has been a Consultant at Guy’s and St Thomas’ since 2017 where he is involved in the education and training of junior surgeons as well as fellows looking to refine their skills in all aspects of knee surgery.
Having completed an undergraduate Bachelor’s Degree in Trauma and Orthopaedics at University College of London in 2005, Mr Khakha went on to complete his medical education at St George’s Hospital in 2006. Subsequently he has gained a post graduate Master’s Degree also in Trauma and Orthopaedics.
Mr Khakha has completed a fellowship in knee surgery with Professor Adrian Wilson. During this time, he was trained in complex ligament, osteotomy and arthroplasty surgery. He also had the opportunity present research and lecture at national and international meetings as well as visit renowned surgeons around the world. This included a visiting fellowship to Massachusetts General Hospital for Trauma Surgery in Boston.
Mr Khakha continues to be involved with research and education. He is an honorary senior clinical lecturer and runs educational courses in post-graduate surgical exams. He features as faculty on courses both nationally and internationally and continues to supervise junior surgeons undertaking research projects.
