Holding a dual qualification in dentistry and medicine, Consultant Maxillofacial Surgeon Mr Deepak Komath is a skilled practitioner who is dedicated to giving his patients the best possible care. Trained at the leading London teaching establishments, he is an expert in the treatment of all medical and surgical conditions affecting the face and neck. He has been Clinical Lead, Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery and Orthodontics at the Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust since 2017. A sought-after teacher and lecturer, he is passionate both about helping his students excel and providing his patients with outstanding care.

About Mr Deepak Komath

After graduating in 2009 from the University of Southampton, Mr Komath undertook his specialist oral and maxillofacial surgery training on the renowned London Deanery rotation, where he honed his skills at Northwick Park Hospital, University College London Hospital and Great Ormond Street Hospital among other teaching centres of excellence. He joined the Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust as Consultant, Maxillofacial Surgery in 2016, adding the role of Clinical Lead for Facial Deformity Surgery to his remit the following year.

Mr Komath works with adults as well as providing a paediatric service and his specialist interests include head and neck reconstruction after cancer or trauma, facial surgery such as nose reshaping, face lifts and eyelid rejuvenation, skin cancer surgery, the early detection and minimally invasive treatment of squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) skin cancers, oral surgery, temporomandibular joint pain treatment, dental implant and tooth extraction, treating salivary duct disorders and facial deformity correction surgery.

A member of several key professional bodies, notably being a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons and the British Association of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons, Mr Komath is an examiner for University College London, holding the position of Senior Lecturer there since 2018, where the students benefit from his expert mentoring and guidance.

He has published a number of well-received papers in his field and excels as lecturer both here and overseas and is dedicated to equipping the next generation of oral and maxillofacial specialists with the best possible skillset.

In his private practice, Mr Komath offers flexible appointments at convenient locations in and around London and where necessary, for complex cases, will arrange joint appointments with other specialists, to deliver comprehensive treatment at one appointment.

As part of the Royal Free Skin Cancer Multidisciplinary Team, Mr Komath understands the value of a collaborative approach to treatment and the hallmark of his care is his commitment to putting each patient’s needs at the heart of everything he does to deliver the most effective treatment, individually tailored to their needs. The wishes of the patient are always paramount in his mind.
